Our Investment Philosophy
Dresner Financial Planning's investment philosophy is to achieve the investment return within your risk tolerance and time frame necessary to help you make your financial dreams a reality. We believe in the Noble award-winning and widely accepted, "Modern Portfolio Theory" for asset allocation and investing. Your portfolio will incorporate your personal investment criteria of specific needs, goals and risk tolerance. Through rebalancing, we take advantage of the market’s fluctuations to reduce portfolio volatility, increase overall investment returns, and reduce overexposure to risk.
What all this means to you:
You’ll have comfort and peace of mind in spite of the unpredictable volatility of today's investment climate
You’ll have less stress about managing your investments
You’ll achieve better investment returns because of our disciplined asset allocation approach within a defined investment strategy - designed to prudently accumulate wealth while limiting risk
You’ll have confidence knowing that you're on the right track to reaching your goals
You’ll feel satisfaction knowing that your financial well being is in trusted hands.
How We Do It
The benefits of a financial plan include:
Creating a context for making good financial decisions
Helping you establish clear strategies for achieving your financial goals
Putting you in control of all your personal finances
Helping you organize and understand your finances
Coordinating all your finances for a cohesive strategy
Developing a financial plan involves six steps:
1. Clarify your present situation – First, we take the time to listen making sure we fully understand you and your current lifestyle. Then we collect information on all aspects of your finances, tolerance for investment volatility, and the services you want us to provide.
2. Identify your personal and financial goals - We help you identify short, mid-range, and long-term goals to be the guideposts for your financial plan.
3. Analyze and evaluate - We will show you how your current situation relates to your goals and identify any financial problems and opportunities between where you are now financially and where you want to be.
4. Provide recommendations and alternatives – A first draft of your financial plan will present recommendations and alternative strategies where appropriate. Together, we’ll discuss and revise where necessary. The final plan will incorporate any revisions and reflect your understanding and approval of the actions needed for achieving your specific goals. One of the most important features of your financial plan is the“Investment Policy Statement”.
5. Implementation – We make sure your plan is implemented in a timely manner and according to the agreed upon timetable.
6. Monitoring, evaluating & reporting – To ensure that ever-changing economic events don’t derail your financial strategies, we monitor your investments and recommend adjustments when necessary. Changes in your life style or goals may also require adjustments in your strategies. Quarterly reports will show how your investments have performed, and compare them to anticipated and required performance needed for reaching your goals.
Tax Planning
How We’re Compensated
As a RTRP and AFSP, both credentials requiring annual ongoing continuing education requirements, I can prepare your taxes or work with your current tax preparer to ensure your investments are tax efficient and effective to help you achieve your financial goals.
We believe that the "best" fee structure is one that is completely open to the client, clearly explained, and fairly priced based on the type of service.
Based on a client's personal financial situation and services, fee-based may be most appropriate for one client, a retainer might work best for another, or an hourly rate may be best for another client.
